How does Swirskii-System control thrips and whiteflies?

When should you introduce Swirskii-System?

  • Start preventatively – introduce Swirskii-System when the crop starts flowering.
  • Prevent pest build-up – early introductions provide the best results because the mites do not feed on adult thrips.
  • Increase release rates under high pest pressure – apply higher rates when thrips or whitefly populations increase.
  • Support the population – apply Nutrimite™ when prey levels are low to maintain an active population.

How do you release Swirskii-System?

  • Distribute the predatory mites evenly – apply the bulk material onto horizontal leaves or hang the breeding sachets evenly throughout the crop.
  • Use the breeding sachets correctly – hang them inside the crop canopy, protected from direct sunlight. Do not open or tear the sachets.
  • Boost population development – apply Nutrimite™ to accelerate and support the development of the predatory mite population.
  • Use the product immediately – release Swirskii-System as soon as possible after delivery.

Under which conditions should you use Swirskii-System?

  • Optimum performance between 25°C and 28°C (77°F to 82°F) – the predatory mites remain active up to 40°C (104°F) but become inactive below 15°C (59°F).
  • Adequate humidity is important – a relative humidity of around 50% supports good population development.
  • Monitor performance – after approximately one week, the first eggs and predatory mites can be observed on the leaves. In pollen-bearing crops, the population establishes even faster.
  • Ideal for integrated pest management – thanks to its broad prey range, rapid population growth and excellent performance at high temperatures, Swirskii-System is a key component of any IPM strategy against thrips and whiteflies.
