Phytoseiulus-System – predatory mite wiping out spider mite hotspots

How does Phytoseiulus-System control spider mites?

  • Specialised predatory mite for spider mite controlPhytoseiulus persimilis is a highly voracious and very mobile predatory mite that attacks all life stages of the red spider mite and two-spotted spider mite.
  • Fast and effective control – both nymphs and adults feed on spider mite eggs, larvae, nymphs and adults. A single predatory mite consumes hundreds of spider mites during its lifetime and can eat 20 to 25 eggs, 20 to 30 larvae and nymphs, or 5 to 7 adult spider mites per day.
  • Ideal for rapid hotspot control – thanks to its rapid development, Phytoseiulus-System quickly suppresses existing spider mite hotspots.
  • Perfect for IPM programmes – combine Phytoseiulus-System with Feltiella-System for even more effective biological spider mite control.

When should you introduce Phytoseiulus-System?

  • Start at the first signs of spider mites – introduce Phytoseiulus-System as soon as the first spider mites are detected.
  • Treat hotspots or the entire crop – when multiple hotspots are present, a full-field application is recommended.
  • Act quickly – because spider mite populations develop and spread rapidly, early introductions are essential for successful control.
  • Repeat when necessary – under high pest pressure, multiple releases at weekly intervals are recommended

How do you release Phytoseiulus-System?

  • Distribute the predatory mites evenly – sprinkle the mites directly onto infested leaves and surrounding plants.
  • Focus on hotspots – for local infestations, concentrate releases on affected plants. For widespread infestations, distribute small amounts evenly throughout the crop.
  • Use the product immediately – gently rotate the bottle horizontally before release to ensure an even distribution of the contents.
  • Combine for optimum results – use Phytoseiulus-System together with Feltiella-System for even more effective spider mite control.

Under which conditions should you use Phytoseiulus-System?

  • Optimum performance at higher humidity – Phytoseiulus-System performs best at a relative humidity above 70% and temperatures between 12°C and 35°C (54°F to 95°F).
  • Avoid dry conditions – under dry conditions, lightly misting the underside of the leaves can improve egg hatch and establishment.
  • Monitor performance – after approximately one week, all life stages of the predatory mite should be visible within the spider mite hotspots. Sucked-out spider mite eggs and healthy new foliage are good indicators of successful control.
  • Ideal for integrated pest management – thanks to its high predation capacity, rapid development and excellent mobility, Phytoseiulus-System is one of the most effective biological solutions for spider mite control.
