How does Eretmix-System control whiteflies?

  • Complete whitefly control – Eretmix-System combines the parasitic wasps Encarsia formosa and Eretmocerus eremicus to provide effective control of both greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) and tobacco whitefly (Bemisia tabaci).
  • Dual mode of action – both parasitoids parasitise whitefly larvae and kill additional larvae through host feeding, accelerating the reduction of whitefly populations.
  • Reliable under a wide range of conditionsE. formosa performs exceptionally well at lower temperatures, while E. eremicus remains highly active at higher temperatures. Together, they provide consistent control throughout the growing season.
  • Suitable for both preventative and curative programmes – combining these two complementary parasitoids makes Eretmix-System an effective solution for early introductions as well as increasing whitefly pressure.
  • Perfect for IPM programmes – in severe whitefly infestations, combine Eretmix-System with Delphastus-System for even stronger biological whitefly control.

When should you introduce Eretmix-System?

  • Start preventatively – introduce Eretmix-System from the beginning of the crop or as soon as the first whitefly larvae are detected.
  • Adjust release rates to pest pressure – increase the release rate as whitefly populations develop.
  • Focus on hotspots – make additional releases in and around infested areas where local outbreaks occur.
  • Repeat introductions – for preventative programmes, apply at least four weekly releases. For curative control, continue weekly releases until good control is achieved.

How do you release Eretmix-System?

  • Hang the cards or distribute the pupae – spread the product evenly throughout the crop while avoiding direct sunlight.
  • Handle the pupae carefully – apply them to a dry surface and avoid touching the pupae to prevent damage.
  • Ensure even distribution – uniform distribution throughout the crop promotes successful establishment of both parasitoid species.
  • Complement when needed – in severe whitefly infestations, combine Eretmix-System with Delphastus-System.

Under which conditions should you use Eretmix-System?

  • Optimum performance from 20°C (68°F) – a minimum average greenhouse temperature of 20°C (68°F) is recommended, although successful introductions are also possible at lower temperatures.
  • Effective across different climate conditionsE. formosa performs best at lower temperatures, while E. eremicus remains highly active under warmer conditions.
  • Avoid large honeydew deposits – excessive honeydew from heavy whitefly infestations can reduce the mobility of E. formosa.
  • Monitor performance – whitefly pupae parasitised by E. formosa turn black, while those parasitised by E. eremicus become beige.
