Sumifly® – Biological insecticide for thrips and whitefly

Mode of action

Sumifly® works in a natural way using fungal spores. These spores target harmful insects and go through four stages:

  1. Adhesion: the spores land on the insect.
  2. Germination: the spores germinate and penetrate the insect’s body. At this point, the insect stops feeding and reproducing.
  3. Growth inside the insect: the fungus continues to grow inside the insect. This disrupts vital bodily functions and leads to muscle paralysis and death.
  4. New spores spread: new spores develop on the dead insect. These can infect other insects, allowing the effect to continue naturally.

Powerful formulation for maximum efficacy

Sumifly® contains spores formulated in an OD (oil dispersion) formulation.

This OD formulation ensures:

  • Better adhesion of the fungal spores to both the insect and the leaf
  • Longer-lasting effect and product stability
  • Higher effectiveness compared to traditional powder formulations (such as WP or "wettable powder")

Application and dosage

  • Maximum dose: 2.5 L/ha
  • Repeat treatment every 5 to 7 days, with a maximum of 4 applications per crop cycle
  • Consult the Technical Data Sheet for more information on instructions for use
