Aphidius-Mix-System - battling mixed aphid species

How does Aphidius-Mix-System control aphids?

  • Dual action – combines two species of parasitic wasps, Aphidius colemani and Aphidius ervi, to control both small and large aphid species.
  • No precise identification requiredA. colemani targets small aphid species, while A. ervi controls larger species. Together, they provide effective control of mixed aphid populations.
  • Effective control – female wasps lay their eggs inside aphids. The larvae develop within the host, eventually killing it.
  • Additional control effect – the presence of parasitic wasps can trigger a panic response, causing aphids to drop from the plant.
  • IPM-friendly – a reliable solution for crops where multiple aphid species occur simultaneously.

When should you introduce Aphidius-Mix-System?

  • Start preventatively – introduce Aphidius-Mix-System before aphid populations begin to build up.
  • Increase the dosage when aphids appear – adjust the release rate according to pest density.
  • Combine for curative control – for existing infestations, combine with Aphidoletes-System or Chrysopa-System. More severe infestations can also be tackled with Adalia-System.

How do you release Aphidius-Mix-System?

  • Mix gently – carefully rotate the bottle horizontally to ensure an even distribution of the mummies.
  • Apply throughout the crop – sprinkle the contents onto horizontal leaves or use Bio-Boxes suspended in the crop.
  • Keep off the soil – never place the mummies directly onto the soil or growing substrate.
  • Leave undisturbed – make sure the material remains dry and is not moved from its release site for at least a few days.

Under which conditions should you use Aphidius-Mix-System?

  • Ideal for mixed aphid populations – use Aphidius-Mix-System when several aphid species are present or when the aphid species cannot be identified.
  • Optimal conditions – best results are achieved at temperatures between 18°C and 22°C (64-72°F) with a relative humidity of 60-80%.
  • Use above 10°C (50°F) – Aphidius-Mix-System is recommended for temperatures above 10°C (50°F). Efficacy decreases at temperatures above 30°C (86°F).
