Visibly powerful aphid control with Propylea-System
How does Propylea-System control aphids?
- Versatile ladybird for aphid control – Propylea quatuordecimpunctata controls all major aphid species and can also feed on spider mites, caterpillar eggs and whiteflies as alternative prey.
- Highly voracious predator – both larvae and adults actively search for aphids. A single individual can consume up to 100 aphids per day.
- Suitable for preventative and curative control – introduce Propylea-System preventatively or at the first signs of aphid hotspots for rapid pest suppression.
- Perfect for IPM programmes – thanks to its broad prey range and high predation capacity, Propylea-System is a reliable biological solution for aphid control.
When should you introduce Propylea-System?
- Start at the first signs of aphids – introduce Propylea-System as soon as aphids are detected.
- Suitable for preventative and curative use – distribute the ladybirds throughout the crop or concentrate releases in aphid hotspots.
- Repeat when necessary – weekly releases help establish a stable population and improve aphid control.
- Active in warm conditions – Propylea-System performs best between 24°C and 28°C (75°F to 82°F) and remains active between 15°C and 35°C (59°F to 95°F).
How do you release Propylea-System?
- Distribute the adults evenly – place pieces of honeycomb paper throughout the crop or use the cup and lid as separate release points.
- Focus on hotspots – concentrate releases in and around aphid colonies where infestations occur.
- Use the product immediately – for optimum performance, release Propylea-System as soon as possible after delivery.
- Control ants as well – ants can reduce the effectiveness of the ladybirds and should be managed where necessary.
Under which conditions should you use Propylea-System?
- Optimum performance between 24°C and 28°C (75°F to 82°F) – the ladybirds remain active within a temperature range of 15°C to 35°C (59°F to 95°F).
- Monitor performance – one to two weeks after the final release, larvae should still be visible and aphid colonies should no longer expand.
- Remains in the crop at low aphid pressure – when aphid populations are low, adult ladybirds feed on pollen and remain active in the crop.
- Ideal for integrated pest management – thanks to its high predation capacity and broad activity range, Propylea-System is a valuable component of any IPM strategy against aphids.
