Anagyrus-System – reliable mealybug control
How does Anagyrus vladimiri control mealybugs?
- Targeted – parasitizes several mealybug species, including both nymphs and adults.
- Efficient – a single female can parasitize up to 15 mealybugs per day.
- Long-lasting control – larvae develop entirely inside the mealybug, which stops feeding and eventually dies.
- Natural population build-up – after approximately 2 to 3 weeks, a new generation of parasitic wasps emerges, providing continued mealybug control.
- IPM-friendly – can be combined with Cryptolaemus-System for enhanced control of mealybug hotspots.
When should you introduce Anagyrus-System?
- Start early – introduce A. vladimiri at the first signs of a mealybug infestation.
- Focus on hotspots – release the wasps in and around infested areas or hotspots to establish the population quickly.
How do you release Anagyrus-System?
- Mix gently – carefully rotate the bottle horizontally to ensure an even distribution of the pupae.
- Hang correctly – suspend the bottle horizontally in the crop using the sticky label or place it in a Bio-Box.
- Protect the pupae – keep the bottle out of direct sunlight and protect it from rain.
- Control ants – after release, ensure adequate ant control to support optimal performance of the parasitic wasps.
Under which conditions should you use Anagyrus-System?
- Active from 14°C (57°F) – females start parasitizing mealybugs from 14°C (57°F).
- Optimal activity – the wasps perform best between 18°C and 34°C (65°F-93°F).
- Ideal for warm growing conditions – larval development is optimal between 12°C and 34°C (53°F-93°F).
