Vespiformis-System – Elevate your thrips control
How does Vespiformis-System control thrips?
- Specialised predatory thrips for thrips control – Franklinothrips vespiformis controls thrips larvae and adults of many thrips species. It also feeds on spider mites and the eggs and nymphs of tobacco whitefly.
- Active and efficient predator – both larvae and adults actively search for prey. A single adult can consume up to 20 thrips larvae or 10 adult thrips per day.
- Active all year round – thanks to the absence of diapause, Vespiformis-System remains active throughout the year at temperatures between 18°C and 30°C (64°F and 86°F).
- Perfect for IPM programmes – combine Vespiformis-System with Orius-System, Swirskii-System or Amblyseius-System for even more effective biological thrips control.
When should you introduce Vespiformis-System?
- Start at the first signs of thrips – introduce Vespiformis-System as soon as thrips are detected.
- Repeat the releases – make at least two introductions with an interval of 2 to 3 weeks.
- Target hotspots – increase release rates in areas with high thrips pressure.
- Combine with other beneficials – for optimum results, combine with predatory mites or Orius-System.
How do you release Vespiformis-System?
- Distribute the predatory thrips evenly – apply them directly onto the leaves or use Bio-Boxes.
- Focus on hotspots – release directly onto infested plants and the surrounding crop.
- Use the product immediately – gently rotate the cup before application to distribute the contents evenly.
- Leave the packaging in the crop – the biodegradable carton cup can remain in the crop.
Under which conditions should you use Vespiformis-System?
- Optimum performance between 18°C and 30°C (64°F and 86°F) – Vespiformis-System remains active all year round without diapause.
- Monitor establishment – the bright orange larvae become visible 2 to 3 weeks after the first release and indicate successful establishment.
- Ideal for integrated pest management – thanks to its broad prey range and high predation capacity, Vespiformis-System is a valuable biological solution for thrips control.
